Welcome to our Year 2 class page

The teachers in Year 2 are Miss Grocott (2A) and Mrs Kirkham (2B)

Your child will be sent home everyday with a reading book targeted at their reading age and a reading diary, therefore it is important for you to listen to your child read their reading book every night and sign their reading diary. 

By the end of Year 2, children should know the 2, 3, 5, and 10 times tables. Please practise these regularly at home. You can do this  using Times Table Rockstars.  https://play.ttrockstars.com

Geography walk

We took our geography learning outside the classroom and went on a local walk searching for human and physical features. We sat by the canal and drew all the things that we could see. We then discussed if they were human or physical. We had lots of fun learning outside!

2A Library Trip

 STEM week 2024

During STEM week we had the opportunity to explore Science, Engineering, Maths and Design Technology. We learned about exciting topics and future careers. In year 2 we took part in a workshop about Light. Kai the scientist led our investigation into using UV light to identify marks on paper money. We made UV bracelets and wore glasses that allowed us to see the colours of light.

In our class we designed parachutes to help keep an egg safe from breaking and then we carried out experiments to see if our designs worked. We also used junk modelling to design and make a space rocket that could travel into space.

We had lots of fun!
