Summer 2
Summer 1 2024 – Tudors
During our WOW day, we learned all about life in Tudor England. We began our day by re-enacting the Battle of Bosworth. We learned all about the events leading up to King Henry VII becoming king of England in 1487. We became the leaders of different armies. We learned that even though Richard II had a bigger army, Henry Tudor won. This was because the Stanley brothers changed sides at the last minute and betrayed the king. Then we went to study a range of artefacts. We got to try on armour, traditional clothes, touch objects from the past and guess what they were used for and finally look at some of the weapons that were used in battle. Don't worry though, they were only replicas. Then we went to study a range of artefacts. We got to try on armour, traditional clothes, touch objects from the past and guess what they were used for and finally look at some of the weapons that were used in battle. Don't worry though, they were only replicas. In the afternoon, we refined our archery skills and then studied each of the Tudor monarchs and their accomplishments. We discovered Henry VIII had six wives and that he created his own branch of Christianity. We discovered that Elizabeth I was clever and she enjoyed sport.
We had a fabulous day which ignited our enthusiasm for our new topic!
STEM week 2024
During STEM week we had the opportunity to explore Science, Engineering, Maths and Design Technology. We had a fun science assembly which ignited out enthusiasm for STEM week. We learned about exciting topics and future careers. In year 4 we visited Runway Manchester where we were lucky enough to look around Concorde and also dress up as various workers!
In our class we investigated the size and key information about each planet and made our own solar systems! We also made zip lines and investigated friction and gravity.
We had lots of fun!
